The increase under salaries of judges reflects the decision of the General Assembly in resolution 59 282 to increase the annual salary of the judges and ad litem judges of the Tribunals by 6.3 per cent effective 1 January 2005.

These recommendations, some of which are summarized below, were unanimously adopted by the Judges in the July 2005 session of the plenary meeting of the Judges of the Tribunal.

72. The Meeting also considered the matter of pensions for the judges of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea. It was decided that the Meeting should adopt a decision on that matter before the first judges completed their terms, i.e. before 30 December 1999, and to include the item on the agenda of the ninth Meeting.

Should the Meeting of States Parties approve an adjustment of the maximum remuneration of the members of the Tribunal to the level of the emoluments of the members of the Court fixed in General Assembly resolution 59 282, effective 1 January 2005, additional appropriations would be required to cover the increases in annual and special allowances for members of the Tribunal and for ad hoc judges for the period from January 2005 to December 2006.

Justice Hunt has regularly delivered papers dealing with criminal law issues to conferences of the judges of, variously, the Supreme Court, the District Court and the Local Court of New South Wales.

A judge of the Supreme Court might be removed upon an address by Parliament to the Governor.
