E. Stakeholder relations

Many shareholders and stakeholders would be interested in information that would help them determine that management is running the enterprise with the best interest of all shareholders and stakeholders in mind and not to unduly benefit any related parties (see also section II.E.6 below on conflict of interest).

The Subcommittee recognized that integrated water resources management was essential to sustainable socio economic development and the central role played by multi stakeholder partnerships.

The purpose of these important rules is to protect outside investors from the opportunism of insiders. When such rules are too lax, insiders face insufficient constraints on their ability to run the firm in ways that serve their private interests at the expense of outside, general investors.

It should always ensure that the process is one which is driven by the State concerned and by the key stakeholders within it.

In this regard we urge the strengthening of partnership between all these stakeholders.

Due account will be given to sectoral and other needs assessments undertaken by all stakeholders.2 Involvement of all stakeholders, including the civil society and private sector, will be promoted.

Support will also be given to countries in addressing interlinkages between stakeholders and sectors, for example, in the fields of sustainable production and consumption.

While appreciating the interest that all nations had in trade issues, it believed that those interests should be pursued among trade experts at WTO.

Urges States and relevant international and national organizations to provide for participation of small scale fishery stakeholders in related policy development and fisheries management strategies in order to achieve long term sustainability for such fisheries, consistent with the duty to ensure the proper conservation and management of fisheries resources

The Security Council recognizes the positive role played by local stakeholders and encourages dialogue between the United Nations and relevant national actors.
