65. Observer status for the Association of Caribbean States in the General Assembly (item 159).

In cooperation with the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and UNDP, a project entitled SAARC Seven Sisters district development coordination and improved poverty project design , was implemented.

The assistance mission, conducted jointly with the European Union, was aimed at completing the third phase of the project to enhance the AU information and crisis management capacity.

The project is aimed at strengthening the administration of LAS and modernizing its work procedures.

216. Gaza municipality project.

The project builds upon lessons learned from three statistical development projects implemented by the Department of Economic and Social Affairs Statistics Division in the Caribbean Community, Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) and ESCWA regions.

The EU intended to continue supporting those three projects.

In order to acknowledge the problem and train the journalists, Estonia participates in an international project The Role of Media in (Re)distribution of Power , financed by the EU gender equality framework programme.

With the expected finalization of the agreement with the European Commission, project activities in the zone of conflict are expected to increase.

Strengthened intra ASEAN TCDC is envisaged as a useful mechanism for achieving these goals.

The EU fully supported the draft decisions recommended by the PBC on sub items (a), (d) and (f) of item 2.
