27. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has focused on the promotion of regional cooperation on the environment in its cooperation with OAU, mainly through providing support to the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN).

EAP and ENRIN, in the region of Latin America and the Caribbean, will continue in 1996 and beyond to implement a project initiated in 1994 to ascertain the regional priorities for environmental assessment.

UNEP coordinated a regional and a global study for AGEDI.

3. The audit was carried out at the headquarters of UNEP at Nairobi, the UNEP Regional Office for Asia and Pacific at Bangkok and the Regional Coordinating Unit for the East Asian Seas Action Plan at Bangkok.

In that connection, UNEP and SPREP will work on a realistic and achievable work programme which will focus on regional seas, coastal degradation, land based sources of pollution, integrated watershed and coastal area management, waste management and promotion of the White Water to Blue Water Initiative, which is already being implemented in the Caribbean.
