Arab States should also proceed without delay to ratify the Agreement on the Arab Collective Mechanism for Negotiation with Regional or Subregional Blocs in the Field of Air Transport as a means of protecting Arab interests.

Because the non permanent members of the Security Council represent their respective regional groups, they should keep their regional groups informed of developments in the Security Council.

At the regional level, UNCTAD should continue to provide advisory and analytical support to regional and subregional integration groups, further assisting in making them operational and increasing intraregional trade.

10. Notes that the system of geographic ranges was designed to apply to countries rather than to regions or groups

Owing to the growing trend of countries to form subregional and regional groupings in order to address common challenges, there is a need for increased coordination among experts and key policymakers in the secretariats of these groupings.

The Chairperson announced that, following earlier informal consultations, it had been agreed that the officers of the meeting would consist of 15 vice chairpersons three from each of the five regional groups.

Data collection forms have been prepared and sent to the regions.

I request the regional groups to nominate their respective candidates as soon as possible.

Regional groups should consider and decide whom they want to nominate.

3. Provision of interpretation services to meetings of regional and other major groupings of Member States

Similarly, the Consensus group believes that our approach can accommodate the aspirations of other inter regional, regional and subregional groups such as the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), the Arab League, CARICOM and the Pacific Island countries.
