32. The countries of Africa were committed to completing work on their national, subregional and regional programmes of action as soon as possible and looked forward to concluding partnership agreements as a step towards the full implementation of the Convention.

Efforts will continue to enhance cooperation among regional United Nations entities through the Regional Coordination Group.

A more coordinated approach to United Nations system cooperation with subregional and regional intergovernmental bodies would also be desirable.

V.6 The Advisory Committee has consistently emphasized the importance of interregional interaction and collaboration (A 58 7, para. V.5) and requested that the regional commissions intensify their efforts for collaboration among themselves and for coordination within the United Nations system.

Agreement was reached on a subregional strategy and on collaboration in the fields of drug law enforcement and demand reduction.

It is backed up by a variety of regional and subregional networks supported by UNESCO regional offices.
