Incidentally, the abolition of the apartheid regime may have an impact on the International Convention on the Suppression and Punishment of the Crime of Apartheid, since under article II, the Convention applies to the policies and practices of racial segregation and discrimination as practised in southern Africa .

The Special Rapporteur apos s visit to South Africa gave him an opportunity to see that the elimination of apartheid and the establishment of a multiracial democratic republic have put an end to repressive violence and the existence of specialized State, bodies for the violation of human rights.
