13. At their third meeting, the Conference of the Parties had focused on agricultural biological diversity and had decided to establish a multi year programme, using an ecosystem or integrated land use approach.

Moreover, demographic momentum, together with patterns of land use and energy consumption, has always affected local and subregional ecosystems.

Land policies are implemented through the Strategic Programme for Land Use 1995 2001 currently under preparation.
