174. Regarding the agenda of the Legal Subcommittee, the Committee recommended that the Subcommittee, at its thirty eighth session, should

Recommends that the Sub Commission request the Commission on Human Rights to authorize the Working Group to meet annually immediately prior to the session of the Sub Commission

The Committee agreed on the following tentative timetable for its session and those of its subcommittees in 2006

Organizational session of the Preparatory Committee (Special session of the Commission on Human Settlements)

The General Assembly approved the allocation of the items proposed in paragraph 71 for the First Committee, the Special Political and Decolonization Committee (Fourth Committee), the Second Committee, the Third Committee, the Fifth Committee and the Sixth Committee.

The inter committee meeting

Substantive servicing of meetings meetings of the Committee of the Whole (16) plenary meetings (32) plenary meetings and working group sessions of subsidiary bodies of the Commission (80) plenary meetings in the reconvened session of the Commission (4) intersessional meetings of the Bureau of the Commission and consultations with permanent missions (10)

The Commission held 11 plenary meetings and 8 meetings of the Committee of the Whole.

He was gratified that the Fifth Committee shared the concerns and supported the conclusions and recommendations of the Committee on Conferences.

Members of the Committee may not be represented by alternates.

(b) Preparations for and attendance at meetings of the Pension Board, the Standing Committee and the annual meetings of the Committee of Actuaries

The biennium 1996 1997 witnessed the second session of the Statistical Committee and the first sessions of the Committee on Social Development, the Committee on Energy and the Committee on Water.

H. Participation of Committee members in other meetings

Special sessions of the Committee shall be convened by decision of the Committee.

In view of the fact that the fortieth session of the Committee would be held immediately following the current session of the Meeting, the Meeting recommended that the present report should be brought to the attention of the Committee during its consideration of the report of the Subcommittee on the work of its thirty fourth session and particularly in connection with its work as Preparatory Committee for the UNISPACE III Conference.

The Committee will consider a draft provisional agenda for the fifty seventh session of the Executive Committee.

(f) Appointment of members of the Committee on Conferences.

Periodicity of Committee meetings

The Committee agrees with the recommendation of the Board.

The Parliamentary Inquiry Committee which was a temporary committee appointed for a limited amount of time, has recently become a permanent subcommittee of the government Ombudsman Committee of the Knesset.

25. The Chairperson of the Committee welcomed members to the eighteenth session of the Committee.

In April 2005, ECA will also hold the fourth meeting of the Committee on Development Information, the Subcommittee on Information and Communication Technologies and the Subcommittee on Geo Information.

Also, the Committee had recommended in earlier years that its Chairman should be invited to address the Third Committee when that body considers the Committee apos s report.

The relationship between the Commission and the Sixth Committee must be strengthened, and the Sixth Committee should receive the Commission s documents prior to and not during its session.

The Commission requested the Chairman of the Sub Commission at its forty ninth session to report to the Commission at its fifty fourth session on significant aspects of the work of the Sub Commission.

The view was also expressed that the Special Committee should be included in the recommendation of the Committee on Conferences.

The Committee began its consideration of this agenda item and heard a statement by the Chairman of the Committee on Conferences who introduced the report of that Committee (A 52 32 and Add.1)

65. In May 1998, following the thirty sixth session of the Commission for Social Development, the organizational session of the Preparatory Committee for the special session of the General Assembly considered the question of the participation of non governmental organizations at both the work of the Committee and the special session.

In accordance with the recommendations of the Preparatory Committee, which were subsequently endorsed by the General Assembly in paragraph 24 of its resolution 52 56, the Conference could organize its work around a plenary and two main committees Committee I and Committee II.
