Scholarships for students (of a social character and for results in studies) cannot exceed 90 per cent of the lowest basic income of an assistant.

Why is it called a prize in economic sciences, rather than just economics ? The other prizes are not awarded in the chemical sciences or the physical sciences.

Among the 18 students' recipients of the scholarship, 12 were women.

Scholarships

Scholarships were awarded to 398 Palestine refugee students for study at universities in the region.

333. School and university students are given material help in the form of scholarships (social and for good academic results), extra allocations for accommodation costs and meals at a canteen, benefits and compassionate allowances.

The balance of the contribution was used to grant 19 new scholarships, while one additional scholarship was funded by savings resulting from students who did not complete the programme and early graduations of scholars in the previous year.

Together, more than 30 scholarships have been granted to UNESCO by the Government of the Czech Republic, but none has been acquired by a student from a Non Self Governing Territory.

(ii) Provision of university scholarships

For study within Panama, more women than men receive scholarships at all educational levels for study abroad, men are in the majority.

Bai Qiaoyan, who is in charge of enrollment, said that the school has six types of scholarships for overseas students, the highest of which is the Chinese Government Scholarship (PhD), which is free of tuition fees, provides accommodation, and has a monthly living allowance of 3,500 yuan.

Calls on the Member States to allocate scholarships for the Palestinian students and expresses its appreciation to Member States who have given scholarships and urges them to consider reducing their tuition fees.

385. A table annexed to this report shows, for both girls and boys, the numbers of full time and part time boarders and scholarship holders (including full scholarships) and the number of establishments with boarding houses by governorate for the 1994 95 school year.

Ranging in value from 250 to 1,500 a year, the scholarships were awarded on the basis of academic merit as evidenced by the results of general secondary school examinations (tawjihi), and were renewable annually for students progressing to the next year until the first university degree level was achieved.
