It has been prepared in line with the general directives established by the United Nations for the drafting of periodic reports on that Convention.

Development of draft formats for reporting in pursuance of Convention requirements

The most commonly reported form of monitoring was the production of regular reports, often annually, a significant number of which were submitted to national legislatures.

A new reporting requirement introduced in 1997 was the preparation of weekly updates for the Security Council.

The principles underlying the Strategy are State modernization, equity enhancement, transparency and participation.

Other legal requirements on financial reporting often restrict the structure of cost reports and limit their use for internal management purposes.
