The duration of an internship is now from three to six months.

The recourse to the use of interns continued during the reporting period.

During 2004, 21 persons served periods of internship at the Tribunal.

The UNCCDUNCCD has a successful internship programme that has allowed for several individuals to perform their internship at UNCCD during this biennium.

The first session is devoted to practical courses and workshops, including a course on United Nations human rights protection mechanisms and a workshop on the role of NGOs in the United Nations.

The internship does not consist of a predefined programme and interns are placed according to the needs of the Office and to their area of interest.

165. At UNU INTECH in the Netherlands, a Ph.D. internship scheme has continued and a group of new interns took up their positions at the Institute.

(vi) On completion of the apprenticeship, the firm is required to provide the apprentice with a certificate stating the nature, level and duration of the apprenticeship and an assessment of his performance.

During the academic year of 2000 2001 higher education establishments implemented a total of 464 various study programmes and 166 academic programmes, 247 professional study programmes and 51 doctoral study programme.

That means that students who are accepted at UNIDIR can obtain university credits for their placement internship or their internship can otherwise be counted as part of the university requirements for a degree.
