In 2001 a survey Families with children and national family policy problems of reconciling professional and family life and their connection with the demographic behaviour of the population was carried out that was commissioned by the Office of the Minister for Population Affairs.

Referring to the Law on Protection from Domestic Violence and the Law on Misdemeanours, she asked how the courts determined whether a case of domestic violence should be characterized as a crime or a misdemeanour, and whether there was a centre for examining injuries resulting from domestic violence.

Such an act can be regarded as a domestic violence act if the victim is a member of the household who did not consent and the act harmfully affects the victim's body and mind.

Domestic violence was not only committed by the spouse, but also by other family members. Outside the household, violence would often be perpetrated by drivers, teachers, and the unemployed.

Every eleventh household evaluated the level of satisfaction of their food requirements as worse than in an average household, and 4.1 per cent households as better.

In 1995 147,253 families, including 54,646 (37 ) headed by women, benefited from these activities.

11. The fact that family violence, which affects primarily girls, boys and women, has been brought into the open, and the promulgation in December 1993 of the Domestic Violence Act, have been positive achievements.
