The Partnerships Fair provided an important venue for networking among partners and for exchanging lessons learned and best practices.

He expressed the wish to work more closely with all development partners, both within and outside the United Nations system, including the private sector.

The requirement to work in partnership with a local partner may prove particularly hard to fulfil, finding a suitable local partner often being more difficult than perceived.

The Deputy Executive Director of UN Habitat, Mr. Daniel Biau, gave an overview of the development of the partnership between UN Habitat and local authorities since the 1996 Habitat II meeting. culminating in the signing of the agreement of cooperation between UN Habitat as the focal point for local authorities within the United Nations system and UCLG as its main partner.

Mileage was not the sole determining factor, as vehicles with high mileage could still be in good mechanical condition.

(e) Encourage the heads of international organizations to continue supporting the Collaborative Partnership on Forests to help facilitate the implementation of Forum decisions and to make greater use of the Partnership in carrying out joint and collaborative programmes, within their existing mandates

The successful partnership between the United Nations Fund for International Partnerships (UNFIP) and the United Nations Foundation (UNF) entered its eighth year in March 2005.

Furthering United Nations reform and working with United Nations partners

We welcome the strong and comprehensive commitments made in that regard by the African countries through the African Union and the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) initiative.

Such adaptation is also an important component in realizing transparent, efficient partnerships with Member States, United Nations partners and regional organizations.
