412. The National Craft Council is concerned with the preservation and development of handicrafts, both traditional and new.

The Ministry of Rural Industries, together with three institutions established under it, namely the National Craft Council, the National Design Centre and the Sri Lanka Handicraft Board, is involved in protecting and developing the traditional skills of rural craftspeople in Sri Lanka.
