1. In addition to the committees, the Conference shall establish a Technical Forum as a technical body of the Conference.

The Conference consisted of several plenary and concurrent technical sessions, during which formal presentations were given on various topics related to the use and development of space technology.

It was recognized that adaptation technologies should include both hard technologies and soft technologies, including processes and tools.

59. The secretariat, through the Caribbean Council on Science and Technology (CCST), assisted in the preparations for global and regional conferences in science and technology.

Some participants also had an opportunity to deliver presentations of a technical nature during the technical sessions.

In order to maximize the benefits from the technical presentations and to preserve sufficient time for discussions, a technical forum could be established as a technical body of the Conference, which would meet parallel to the plenary and Committees I and II. The technical presentations would be scheduled, as far as possible, at least one meeting prior to the consideration of the relevant agenda item in plenary or in Committee I or II.
