The most commonly reported form of monitoring was the production of regular reports, often annually, a significant number of which were submitted to national legislatures.

The individual items, and the form of the final report, were well chosen.

It follows the format used in the questionnaire, which was based on the structure of the Declaration.

The interim report of the Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance, stated that new forms of discrimination had appeared in addition to the traditional ones, particularly in the framework of the fight against terrorism.

Any study whose final report has been submitted to the Sub Commission for consideration, even if it is subsequently decided that it may be updated annually, for example, in the form of a periodic report, is considered to have been completed.

The Committee considers the overall presentation and format of the addendum to be an improvement on the Secretary General s original report (A 53 271).

The present annual report adopts a different format for the presentation of follow up information compared to previous annual reports.
