Deferred projects

In order to progress the project smoothly, we have revised the plan several times.

Items that could be considered at a later session shall be identified, taking into account the priorities set by the medium term plan.

It was suggested that possible criteria for prioritizing could include items based on a binding stipulation in the Convention or Protocol or other compelling reason, without which the process cannot move forward items that would improve Parties' actions or serve part of a longer term process items that provide interesting information but do not result in immediate action and items that are not necessary to advance the process.

The unspent balance was mainly under mine detection and mine clearing services, undertaken by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) under a memorandum of agreement with the United Nations, and resulted from the delays in recruitment experienced by UNOPS.

The reports mention various initiatives currently conducted in Africa, particularly a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) project in Sudan and a project running in Rwanda for the promotion of innovative technologies for the extraction and purification of methane.

The second project concerned the promotion of biodiesel production and was aimed at establishing an institutional framework for the production of biodiesel and for the development of the market in Croatia.

His Government continued to support capacity building projects and to promote sustainable development and good governance in its overseas Territories.
