III. SUB SAHARAN AFRICA

Almost half those countries are in the poverty stricken sub Saharan region of Africa.

That had been the basis for the struggle for independence in the southern African subregion.

5. Net transfer of financial resources of sub Saharan Africa, 1987 1997

I would say that sub Saharan Africa has done best in the world during the last 50 years.

But let me split sub Saharan Africa. Health is there and better health is up there.

Sub Saharan Africa is not alone in having yet to achieve its potential.

The same is true for sub Saharan Africa, Latin America and Asia.

The average life expectancy index for Sub Saharan is of 48,9 years.

It's interesting to see the enormous diversity within sub Saharan Africa.

Much of sub Saharan Africa remains blighted by poverty, disease and conflict.

Latin America and the Caribbean, North America, Oceania and Sub Saharan Africa are all above the 60 per cent level.

Broad subregions, in particular, sub Saharan Africa, are off track in meeting the Millennium Development Goals.

Most of the conflict ridden areas, particularly sub Saharan Africa, are major recipients of small arms.

South Asia has the largest number of youth living below the two poverty lines, followed by sub Saharan Africa.

The highest maternal mortality rates are in sub Saharan Africa, South Asia and some countries in East Asia and the Pacific region.

In sub Saharan Africa, it accounts for nearly 80 per cent of all commercial energy used.

This is especially true of the least developed countries and the rural areas of countries in sub Saharan Africa.

Similar efforts have also been made in other subregions of sub Saharan Africa.

In particular, sub Saharan Africa did not suffer a deterioration in net financial transfers in 1997.

A third partnership, initiated by South Africa, the United States and IAEA, was established specifically for sub Saharan Africa.

Countries will be selected from all subregions in sub Saharan Africa.

Most of these youths are to be found in parts of sub Saharan Africa, Western Asia and the former Soviet Union.

The unemployment rate is very high in sub Saharan Africa and South Asia and is increasing in some developed countries.

The lowest coverage levels continue to be in sub Saharan Africa, despite recent progress there.

There appears to be a need for special attention in this regard in North Africa, the Middle East and, above all, Sub Saharan Africa.

The least developed countries, many of which are in sub Saharan Africa, even saw a small improvement in the net transfer.

Many countries in South Asia and sub Saharan Africa, however, will have great difficulty in achieving the goal.

Most under five deaths are clustered in two regions sub Saharan Africa (44 per cent) and South Asia (32 per cent2).

A survey of trafficking in sub Saharan Africa will be conducted as an intrinsic component of transnational crime in that region.

Time has come to stop thinking about sub Saharan Africa as one place.
