At the national level household incomes will determine how the national product is distributed internally.

43. The current low per capita income adjustment involves a reduction of assessable national income for those countries whose per capita national income is below the agreed threshold.

( ) Income programme support charges

Income distribution at the national level in a given society would consist in the way in which the overall product produced by the national economy within a year is distributed between the households that comprise and compose that society.

The Income and Employment Support Act, which came into force in November 2004 and replaced the Social Assistance Act (1977), provides enabling legislation that will facilitate the integration of employment interventions with the Income Support Program.

The tables below show the value of national income at market prices and the per capita share in that income, as well as the GDP value at market prices.

Miscellaneous income is defined in the United Nations system as income other than (a) the value of assessed or voluntary contributions and (b) such other income items as may be excluded under the organization s financial regulations and rules.

Some of the lowest income countries suffer a shock of up to 4 per cent of GDP.

The Committee s recommendation to use GNP rather than national income for the current scale of assessments, therefore, means that it continues to base itself on an income rather than a product concept, but prior to provision for depreciation, for which the quality of estimates is variable.
