This station is to be set up within the framework of the GLOVE project, which is co financed by the European Union.

The GERMA project on developing a marine resources management system based on satellite images is currently being set up with co financing from the European Union, the Ministry of Maritime Fisheries and Merchant Shipping (MPMMM) and the CRTS.

The European Commission has been involved in the financing of a number of projects in Africa.

I am pleased to note that some development partners are increasingly interested in security sector reform, especially the European Union, which has requested ECOWAS to submit projects that EU could help to finance in this area.

The project is co financed by the European Commission and Belgium, Finland, France, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom.

This station was to be set up within the framework of the GLOVE project, which was co financed by the European Community.

The project donors include the European Commission, Finland, Germany, Japan, Norway and Sweden.

This new European Union military operation reinforces the European Union's comprehensive approach towards Bosnia and Herzegovina and supports that country's progress towards European Union integration by its own efforts, with the objective of the signing of a stabilization and association agreement as a medium term objective.

In addition, a technical assistance project was prepared under the European Union s PHARE programme in 1995.

In order to acknowledge the problem and train the journalists, Estonia participates in an international project The Role of Media in (Re)distribution of Power , financed by the EU gender equality framework programme.

The assistance mission, conducted jointly with the European Union, was aimed at completing the third phase of the project to enhance the AU information and crisis management capacity.

The European Union, Japan, the Netherlands, the Nordic countries and the United States have all provided substantial funding for many of the projects mentioned earlier.

16. Djibouti has initiated a demobilization programme with assistance from France and the European Union (EU).

St. Helena is also eligible to receive funds from the European Union.

In addition to the projects supported by the Union, there were also projects funded from the European Commission budget.

The first phase has already offered a platform for WHO and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to coordinate their strategy in this area, for example in the context of the Telemedicine Alliance Bridge, which is an initiative financed by the telemedicine activities of WHO, ITU, the European Commission and the European Space Agency (ESA).

The Union therefore provides support for a wide range of projects and programmes in those fields throughout the world.

The EU intended to continue supporting those three projects.

In 2005, UNIDIR will begin a project supported by the Marie Curie Intra European Fellowship programme of the European Commission to study EU and United Nations planning for crisis management and peacebuilding.

A proposal from the Commission of the European Union for a new directive is currently under discussion by the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament.

Contributions in kind estimated at 343,476 ( 278,106) were received from Member States in support of UNIDO projects and 39,778 ( 32,207) in support of project travel.

8. Welcomes further the major contribution of the Council of Europe to the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe, launched at the initiative of the European Union, and to the development of regional projects to support its aims

The European Phare New Synthetic Drugs and Precursors Control Project and the Phare twinning projects, as well as precursor projects of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), a specific EU technical assistance project for the Andean Community and Project Prism were also cited in this regard.

Four projects had already been funded.

To advance both objectives, the EU must link its investment and aid programs to concrete progress on democratization, and press for much greater accountability and improvement in reforming educational systems throughout the region.

These projects were largely financed by two European Commission grants of 1.5 million each and will run through to June 2006.

There are also production projects, which are part of the projects to support reintegration financed by the European Union.

The European Commission was also involved in telecommunications and space navigation projects.

Those arrangements are to remain in place pending the completion of the road construction project within the buffer zone funded by the European Union.

This being said, the projects financed through the European Development Fund require close cooperation with the Haitian authorities, who must implement those projects.
