For example, the schooling rate for girls with a disability aged 7 14 years old is 6 lower than that of not disabled girls of the same age.

Disabilities are more prevalent among women (11.3 per cent) than men (9.1 per cent).

These are manifested in the high death and disability rates, especially in priority areas.

The men's rate is particularly higher among the IDF disability pension recipients and the employment disability pension recipients.

Over 70 of the people with severe disabilities, physical illnesses and mental deficiencies, as well as approximately 72 of the blind and 20 of the deaf are unemployed.

Promotion and awareness of disability issues

The problem of disabled women in Mozambique is particularly important, but it is not dissociated from that from those of people for whom disabilities make them a special group, nor from those of the common person who, victimized by the social vicissitudes of poverty, underdevelopment, face all types of social and economic difficult, social pressures, pressures from religious beliefs and, above all, political and traditional pressures to name but a few factors.

Upon reaching the retirement age the disability pension is substituted by the old age pension that must be not less than the disability pension during the disability period.
