The share of coal declined from around 65 per cent to about 50 per cent, and that of oil from 11 to 5 per cent the share of nuclear power increased from 21 to 29 per cent and that of natural gas from less than 1 to 13 per cent.

Mr. AKIL (Pakistan) thought that a solution would be to provide that Member States wishing to claim their unencumbered balances should convey that fact to the Secretariat, and that otherwise their unencumbered balances would be utilized as mentioned in paragraph (b).

The total cost of the initial phase has been estimated at the level of 8.4 million (equivalent to 7.6 million), with a UNIDO share of 1.38 million ( 1.22 million).

Thus, the approved level of phase II amounts to 6.9 million, of which UNIDO's share represents a funding requirement of 1.11 million.

The share of developing countries in world total exports of services was 22 per cent in 2003, while their share in imports was 24 per cent.

The action to be taken by the General Assembly, as contained in paragraph 11 of the present report, is a decision to credit Member States their respective share in the unencumbered balance of 4,127,600 gross ( 3,752,700 net) for the period from 1 July 1996 to 30 June 1997.
