13. The second major feature of the new method is that draft studies are subjected to but a single review.

The Committee considered the draft report on its thirty second session (CEDAW C 2005 I CRP.3 and Add.1 9) at its 683rd meeting (see CEDAW C SR.683) and adopted it, as orally revised, during the discussion.

On 12 May, the Committee adopted the draft report of its twenty first session (PBC.21 L.1) on the understanding that the Rapporteur would be entrusted with the task of finalizing the report.

The view was expressed that the third preambular paragraph of the preliminary draft protocol, and the inclusion of article XXI (bis) into that draft during the first session of the Unidroit committee of governmental experts, adequately addressed the relationship between the United Nations treaties on outer space and the preliminary draft protocol, although the precise formulation of article XXI (bis) was still under negotiation.

The Commission was informed that initial drafts of chapters V to XI were being prepared by the Secretariat for consideration by the Commission at its thirty second session, in 1999.

1. Draft general recommendation on article 12

At its 1698th and 1699th meetings, on 30 and 31 July 1998, the Committee considered the draft of its twenty second annual report, covering its activities at the sixty first, sixty second and sixty third sessions, held in 1997 and 1998.

In both instances, conference services were forecast for four meetings (two each day), although it was intended that the morning of the second day would, in fact, be used for informal consultations among interested delegations while the Secretariat was finalizing the draft report for presentation on the afternoon of the second day.

The first draft of the document will be presented for discussion.

A second edition is being finalized based on further interviews with special representatives and will be distributed to all representatives upon its completion.

The first draft of the report, according to GAFIC, will be sent in the second week of February 2005.
