The budget also foresees a reduction on non post items, such as travel and General Temporary Assistance, resulting from efforts to streamline our processes.

For the biennium 1996 1997 estimated expenditure for the Fund of UNDCP is expected to exceed estimated income and programme support charges by US 10 million, resulting in a further decline in the Fund balance, to around US 51 million by 31 December 1997.

As a result, the number of revisions has been reduced.

31. The present cost estimates represent a 10.4 per cent reduction, in gross terms, in relation to the previous budget.

This reduction in real terms is, however, offset by inflation mandatory salary related increases, resulting in a proposed budget of 10.0 million.

The cost shared budget estimates for the biennium 2006 2007 have been decreased by 5 per cent in overall terms relative to the budget for 2004 2005.

17. The Secretariat was requested to give detailed justification for the proposed increases or decreases in the indicative estimates for the 13 parts of the budget, including all legislative mandates for which corresponding increases or decreases had been proposed in the budget outline.

The lower resource requirements were attributable to the expected reduction in the military from its authorized strength of 3,980 to a budgeted strength of 3,184 by 1 July 2005 and a 10 per cent reduction in the level of civilian personnel.

Lastly, while delayed deployment had led to a reduction of the original UNMIS budget proposals, that reduction should in no way affect the achievement of the Mission's mandate.

One activity included calculations of emissions reductions for CH4 and N2O, and another activity calculated the emissions reductions of CO, THC (total hydrocarbons), NOx, and particle matter (PM).
