Her delegation welcomed the establishment of the Inter Agency Committee on the Advancement of Women, which would link the United Nations system with its member States.

The countries members of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) also associated themselves with the reply.

Its membership in 2005 is 28 Full Members, four Associate Members and 7 ICSU Members.

It would demonstrate the United Nations system's commitment to its most vulnerable members.

The Syrian delegation supported the proposal by Cuba to expand the membership of the Committee and hoped that there would be meaningful change in the composition and membership to reflect the increased membership of the United Nations as well as the membership in other organs of the United Nations system.

Moreover, the addition of new permanent members selected by the Assembly would establish a direct link of accountability between the new permanent members and the general membership.

Noting further the continuing interest of the territorial Government in seeking associate membership in the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States and observer status in the Caribbean Community, and the Association of Caribbean States,

CEB members agree in principle that the United Nations resident coordinator should ensure active collaboration with all organizations of the system that are engaged in country level activities, particularly UNDG member organizations, including those not represented on the United Nations country teams.

In the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), three Caribbean territories are associate members while one is a full member.
