III. Additional plans of action

In other duty stations, estimates for salary increases have been calculated on the basis of projected consumer price increases.

Presently the third short term five year plan (2001 2002 to 2005 2006) is being implemented and the economy grew 1.6 times by the end of the fourth year of the current five year plan.

90. Table 10 shows that, since 1992 1993, the number of approved field office posts rose by 22 per cent to 675 in 1996 1997 and a planned additional 55 posts for 1998 1999 will bring the total increase to 32 per cent since 1992.

Direct programme assistance amounted to 1,344 million, an increase of 117 million (9 per cent) compared to 2003 and 46 million (3 per cent) less than the financial plan.

Therefore, while UNDP welcomed the increase in contributions of non core resources, it believed that core resources should remain central to UNDP activities.

Planning in anticipation of urban growth could warrant investment in large scale sanitation and sewerage systems.

In the last 3 4 years, there has been a major increase in such projects, they are now incorporated into refrigerant management plans (RMPs and RMP up dates), refrigeration servicing sector plans, and national phase out plans.

Similar to the Professional category, estimates for salary increases in other duty stations have been calculated on the basis of projected consumer price increases.

Regular resources contributions amounted to 791 million in 2004, an increase of 59 million (8 per cent) compared with 2003 and 26 million (3 per cent) compared with the financial plan.

Sudanese economic growth has been stable and the economy is expected to grow by about 8 per cent in 2005.
