As at 30 June 2005, the reserves and fund balances of this account amounted to some 121.1 million.

Reconciliation of the imprest accounts for the 2002 2003 biennium impacts on the opening balances for 2004 and is therefore required to enable reconciliation of the 2004 balances with the general ledger.

The report of the Secretary General made two concrete proposals for improving the efficiency of the Account, namely, to approve a statement of objective for the Development Account and to increase the Account's funding level.

One sanctioned person was identified in 2004 on the basis of notifications from banks (the Slovak Republic possesses details concerning the name of the sanctioned person, balance of his SKK account and of his EUR account).

The term includes checking, saving and time deposit accounts.

The monitoring and control processes to verify journal entries for validity, accuracy and completeness are ensured through authorization of journals posted, the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and analytical reviews performed on account balances.

The financing of the support account included the 13,790,000 excess balance of the Peacekeeping Reserve Fund.

(11) As regards assets depreciation reserves, it is required to list item by item the beginning balance, amount prepared at current period, amount carried back at current period, amount written off at current period and ending balance of such reserves.

As of 31 December 2004, the accumulated fund balance in the special account amounts to 2,867,824, including a transfer of 399,728 during 2004.

The annual resources of the Special Account amounts shall be at least 20 times the annual administrative account, and shall be replenished through a stable and predictable mechanism.

Hence, the associated funds are planned to be accumulated in a special account in order to be utilized when a sufficient funds balance is available for the implementation of these projects in due course.

In accordance with the above cited resolution, 49,242,762 was allocated from unencumbered balances in the special account of the United Nations Transition Assistance Group, 18,156,200 from unencumbered balances in the special account of the United Nations Iran Iraq Military Observer Group and 82,601,038 from authorized retained savings in the United Nations General Fund.
