Other than China, Malaysia experienced a high concentration of SINTNC subsidiaries 119 of the 204 SINTNCs established 273 subsidiaries in Malaysia.

Transnational corporations (TNCs) could play an important role in this regard.

In mid 2004, Cuba decided to purchase four of the latest Flygt submersible pumps produced by the Swedish company ITT Flygt, a subsidiary of the United States multinational ITT.

For transnational corporations (TNCs) and large companies, this related to export markets whereas SMEs were more specifically concerned with domestic market share, including increased market opportunities as suppliers to TNCs.

There is also growing FDI in R D (from a low level) by developing country TNCs, e.g. from the Republic of Korea, China and India.

The top 12 TNCs from Singapore include seven government linked companies (GLCs).

They should provide a recourse mechanism to deal with possible disagreements over the provisions of written agreements between indigenous peoples and transnational corporations.

Three cement companies, all subsidiaries of large multinational companies, were fined a total of EUR 28,500,000 for their participation in a cement cartel.

All corporations should adopt environmental policies which form part of their corporate responsibility.
