The share of developing countries in world total exports of services was 22 per cent in 2003, while their share in imports was 24 per cent.

Israel, by contrast, exported to Europe 100 per cent of its flower quota and 57.8 per cent of its strawberry quota.

Its direct influence on trade may be less immediately obvious, since its share of world exports has never exceeded 4 per cent and its share of world imports reached its highest point in 2003 at 15.5 per cent.

Donor countries provide the largest share of population assistance.

The share of processed products in total OECD food imports increased from 23 per cent (1980 82) to 29 per cent (1990 92).

Their share in world merchandise exports increased from 24 per cent in 1990 to 33 per cent in 2004.

The United States, which is a net importer of fish in the order of some US 3,700 million annually as an average of 1991 1995, imports semi processed or raw material fish for its processing plants.

But Europe managed to hold its share of global exports during that period more effectively than did the US. European companies have been more successful, on average, at maintaining their share of emerging market demand than have US companies.
