Wages should be no lower than the minimum wage.

It was such a high labor component to it that it made a lot of sense to go after that labor market.

Compared with neighbouring countries, labour in Syria is cheap.

Relatively low labour costs have also contributed to this success.

Labor force participation will be key to shaping this environment. As it stands, the low official unemployment rate can be explained partly by declining participation rates, especially among workers aged 25 54.

As enterprises seek to reduce operational costs, they have the option to outsource non core activities to countries that can provide a high level of service with much lower labour costs.

This is expected to increase the labour force participation of single parents and reduce the depth of low income among single parent families.

Liquidity injections and low interest rates have a microeconomic effect that has received little attention they lower the cost of capital vis à vis the cost of labor, which causes a relative decline in demand for labor. The employer is obliged to pay workers the same pay for work of equal value. Changing the terms of payment for work so that they are worse for the worker is prohibited (article 102 of the Labour Code).

Increasing female participation in the workforce would not only strengthen the country's potential for growth but also reduce the number of poor as households gained a second income.

It also helps to increase the level of schooling for male and female workers, to facilitate the process for social inclusion and to reduce poverty. It contributes to combat discrimination and decrease people's vulnerability. It helps to increase more people's probability to remain in the labor market and increase productivity.

Reducing the labor supply in economically depressed areas of Europe and increasing it in booming regions would do much to reduce differences in wages and unemployment rates. It s time to start thinking seriously about how to make Europeans move.

As fertility declines, the proportion of the population comprising children (persons under age 15) also declines, whereas the proportion of the population of working age increases, resulting in a decreasing dependency ratio (defined as the average number of children and elderly persons per 10 persons of working age).

It was at one point almost 60 per cent of the work force but is now down to 43 per cent.

It should be emphasized that the phenomenon of lower wages in the private sector than in the public sector only concerns manual workers apos wages, for non manual workers being higher in the private sector.

The workforce

With developing countries in particular, China, India, and the ex Soviet bloc bringing almost 1.5 billion workers into the world economy since the early 1990 s, it is not difficult to understand the potential impact of this effect. After all, much of this labor force was absorbed by labor intensive industries that eventually churned out products exported to the rest of the world.

They are trying to keep costs down.

Although the UBN figure has fallen, it cannot be denied that the purchasing power of workers apos incomes has also fallen.

Enhancing wage flexibility in an environment in which unemployment exceeds 11 will allow firms to cut wages, and lower labor costs will permit them to cut prices in an effort to gain market share. Deregulation that intensifies product market competition will similarly lead to lower prices (that being what competition does).

The supply cannot absorb the labour available in the market.
