ZERI Zero Emissions Research Initiative

35. The Zero Emissions Research Initiative (UNU ZERI) held its third World Congress on Zero Emissions in Jakarta in July.

What we're also missing is blue carbon, which, by the way, is the largest store of carbon more than 55 percent.

What's green carbon?

In the longer term, it is hoped that carbon capture and sequestration will lead to zero emissions fossil fuel energy systems.

70. Closely related to the improvement of industrial efficiency is the UNU project on minimizing emissions, known by the acronym ZERI (for Zero Emissions Research Initiative).

And it puts 18 thousand tons of carbon dioxide in the air.

The share of process emissions from industry (CO2 and PFCs) is particularly high.

Several vehicles for offsetting GHG emissions exist such as purchasing emission credits from stand alone projects, from a carbon fund, or from an emission trading scheme.

This is what the U.K. government target on carbon and greenhouse emissions looks like.

Table 1 shows the percentage change in CO2 emissions from 1990 to 1995 for the major sources.

Hungary is committed to stabilizing national emissions of CO2, and the communication also made a reference in the preface to the commitment to stabilize greenhouse gas emissions.

This may lead to further limitations to the growth of CO2 emissions at the national level and contribute positively to the achievement of the EU wide CO2 stabilization target.

Based on the new CORINAIR data, however, CO2 emissions were 0.4 per cent higher in 1994 than in 1990.
