70. This involves activities related to the use of the mechanism of investment funds (country funds, venture capital funds or specific sectoral investment funds) to attract foreign investment flows in least developed countries.

Fundline includes portfolio investment funds, private equity funds and companies, venture capital funds, mutual funds and other equity vehicles.

The issues to be considered will include (a) prospects for, and constraints on, foreign investment flows to LDCs, through investment funds such as country funds and venture capital funds (b) investment opportunities in LDCs by country and by sector (c) conditions for the creation of investment funds for LDCs.

Some laws require a minimum rate of equity investment, as a percentage of the total investment cost, or establish a ceiling for the availability of public funds to the project.

Some experts suggested that investment in national green funds in OECD countries which are tax free may be another mechanism for promoting investment in sustainable development projects in developing countries.

Given this reality, the best bankers, traders, dealmakers, etc. will work for companies that provide the most attractive compensation. Greater pay regulation will drive the most talented away from regulated banks and towards hedge funds, private equity funds, boutique investment banks, and other unregulated investment firms.

The third, and perhaps most important, factor underpinning recent changes in corporate governance has been the sharp rise in cross border investing. Sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, global investment banks, and hedge funds do not invest only in their own backyard.

During this time, capitalism smooth and successful between 1945 1975 (sustained high growth, low unemployment, and no financial crises) weakened. Through pension funds, investment funds, and arbitrage (or hedge) funds, shareholders became well organized and seized power in developed countries firms.
