Through pre trial and pre defence status conferences, a Trial Chamber has the authority to streamline trial proceedings.

Amendments to the Rules of Procedure and Evidence have put in place a variety of new mechanisms, such as the pre trial judge and pre trial conferences, and adjusted existing mechanisms, to enhance Chambers apos ability to accommodate the large number of accused on trial.

This Office will be restructured to support the increased activity linked to pre trial, trial and appeals cases.
