Coordination of project implementation and preparation of reports

Thailand is seeking to achieve coordination and cooperation through the project

Weaknesses in project coordination and management control should be identified with a view to improving project implementation (para. 9 (a)).

Project implementation should be improved by identifying the weaknesses in project coordination and management control and by ensuring that work plans provide for performance indicators and that the technical assistance provided in the project is of the required standard and takes into account the capacity of the national staff.

The Programme Coordination and Management Unit coordinates the planning and programming process, facilitates the project design and approval process, and monitors and reports on programme performance.

The Trust Fund will be responsible for the central administrative costs relating to the coordination and programming functions, while individual projects will contain project support costs.

The first of these is the national mines awareness coordination project, in which it coordinates all mine awareness activities in Mozambique on behalf of the Government.

The United Nations Office for Project Services plays a critical role in serving as a bridge, from emergency initiatives to development projects and continuous coordination of mine action activities.

The first phase of the ICRIN project has been completed, thanks to funding from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

That cooperation will benefit the new ECOWAS Small Arms Project (ECOSAP) established by ECOWAS in October 2004 to replace the Programme for Coordination and Assistance for Security and Development (PCASED).

The Centre also provided additional support for the review and adoption of the project proposal for the establishment of the ECOWAS Small Arms Unit and the ECOWAS Small Arms Control Programme, the successor project to the Programme for Coordination and Assistance for Security and Development in Africa.
