We concur that the General Assembly should endorse the development of a common payroll system as a first step towards a common Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) for the United Nations system as a whole.

The core operations processes are planning, resource allocation, implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation.

This report shares the main areas of concern of ICT strategy, in particular, the need to implement common software applications, such as payroll, in the context of a desirable common enterprise resource planning (ERP) system for the whole United Nations system.

UNDP intends to leverage its investment in corporate initiatives such as its Enterprise Resource Planning (Atlas system) to progressively link financial resources to defined outcomes for results based reporting within the RBM framework.

The Court has also been in contact with the United Nations Office at Geneva on being involved in the replacement of IMIS by the Enterprise Resource Planning System and is studying the possibility of implementing such a system to replace in house applications.

The Committee notes that on 1 January 2004, wave I of the Enterprise Resource Planning system (Atlas) was launched additional functionalities are targeted for completion in 2007, as indicated in paragraph 55 of the budget document.

The actual impact of the introduction of UPL is currently not known, because the new enterprise resource planning system (Atlas), introduced by UNDP in 2004, is not yet in a position to report on the charges.

ProFi is now a solid product, capable of supporting current and future UNODC enterprise resource planning (ERP) needs.

The AOAD supports the training programmes in negotiation, multi sectoral programme planning, and financial and technical resource mobilization.

Based on the anticipated success of this effort, the Information Management Systems Service intends to expand the scope of the project to all remaining organizations, including those migrating to an enterprise resource planning system (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Peoplesoft).

As the Fund studies the possibility of integrating its ICT infrastructure into an enterprise resource planning system, it will be necessary to ensure that the existing legacy systems are capable of providing support over the next five years.

Promoting participation of rural women in planning and resource allocation has also been a key element of UNDP interventions.

UNICEF collaborated to improve human resource management throughout the United Nations system.

In response to the need to replace the mainframe driven pension application (PENSYS) which has been in use for approximately 15 years, the Fund requests funding to study and determine the scope of the effort and the resources necessary to replace the system with the Lawson enterprise resource planning system.

Requests the Executive Director to undertake, as needed, in close consultation with all countries concerned, a further review of the system for resource allocation in late 2007, in the context of any forthcoming integration of planning, funding and budget tools.

The Galileo inventory management system is a useful tool for planning assets rotation.

The resource mobilization objectives of the national committees, established through the joint strategic planning process, are to maximize their contribution to UNICEF programmes.

It's an integrated system that has evolved despite all the planning and so on.

It encouraged UNHCR to continue to support needs based programme planning, while taking into account in the budget the realities of likely resource levels.

Country level emergency planning will be coupled with a human resources support and referral system.

40. Recognizes that the Framework, where it exists, is the common planning framework for the development operations of the United Nations system at the country level, consisting of common objectives and strategies of cooperation, a programme resource framework and proposals for follow up, monitoring and evaluation

In aligning UNIFEM management and human resources practices and policies, there are three areas of focus further clarifying operational guidelines between UNIFEM and UNDP more effective and efficient financial management with the rollout of the Atlas enterprise resource planning system and delivery of financial resources in 2004.

Annual resource mobilization targets for each focus area will be set to encourage realistic global strategic planning for meeting the financial requirements of the MTSP.

New technologies associated with global networking and enterprise resource planning systems will be evaluated in the 2006 2007 biennium and beyond by the Technology Officer.

As part of that drive, the Office had recently created a Policy, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Unit which would help in establishing a strategic planning and management system.

Bangladesh had followed Indonesia's mosque based family planning and counselling system which included training religious leaders.

With a view to finding efficiencies in the use of the organization's resources by improving processes, reporting and accountability to UNHCR stakeholders, on 5 January 2004 a new online enterprise resource planning system (Management Systems Renewal Project PeopleSoft) comprising finance and supply chain modules went live at headquarters.

The analysis and planning of system wide resource flows and funding could be conducted in the context of the existing multi year funding frameworks and at future meetings of the governing bodies concerned there would thus be no need to set up an intergovernmental working group on the subject.

The working group noted that maintenance costs were budgeted for the projects under study, such as the enterprise resource planning project, that maintenance costs were included for redevelopments (such as the upgrade of the Lawson accounting system) and that maintenance costs consumed a considerable portion of the budget.

The Strategy system also has a decisive role in furthering advocacy and resource mobilization and information sharing and reporting.

OIOS notes that the main challenge to the effectiveness of the campaigns has been the inadequacy of planning, both globally and at the country level, and resource constraints.

15. Requests the Secretary General to develop further the functions of the Electronic Meetings Planning and Resource Allocation System (e Meets) as the central tool for managing meetings to cover the entire spectrum of meeting related activities and to continue consultations with other duty stations in order to expand its application across duty stations, or to integrate the system into other systems used in such offices
