The three experts would include an expert to cover the transport, trade facilitation and customs sectors an expert to cover the banking and insurance sector and an expert to cover the telecommunications and business information sector.

In this connection, the Commission decided inter alia to convene an Expert Meeting on Telecommunications, Business Facilitation and Trade Efficiency.

At its ninth session, the Commission on Enterprise, Business Facilitation and Development decided to convene an Expert Meeting on ICT and Tourism for Development.

The report of the Expert Meeting will be submitted to the Commission on Enterprise, Business Facilitation and Development at its tenth session in 2006.

8. The expert from Japan reported on the establishment in 1995 of a Cyber Business Association which aims at the promotion of electronic commerce and cyber business in cooperation with the European Union, the APEC countries and the G.7 countries.

In response to a strong analytical need for more internationally comparable business statistics, the OECD Statistics Directorate held an expert meeting on structural business statistics on 3 and 4 November 2005 to examine with national experts commonalities and differences in structural business statistics between European, North American and Asia Pacific member countries.

At the first session of the Commission, a decision was made to convene expert meetings, and in this context, the Expert Meeting on the Use of Information Technologies to Make Transit Arrangements More Effective was held from 5 to 7 May 1997, while the Expert Meeting on Telecommunications, Business Facilitation and Trade Efficiency was held from 8 to 10 September 1997.

Still... Business was business.

Coordination among donors and international organizations was discussed at the Expert Meeting, and the Committee has recently written guidelines for donor funded interventions in the area of business development services.

Therefore, expert meetings, convened by UNCTAD, were regarded as an important forum for formulating the impediments facing the business community, especially in least developed countries experiencing difficulties in developing their exports.

The exchange of lessons and experiences in the Expert Meeting may also assist governments in preparing country presentations for the second session of the Commission on Enterprise, Business Facilitation and Development.

Other published OECD reports include a summary of the OECD's June 2004 expert panel on digital broadband content, and another entitled ICT, E Business and Small and Medium Enterprises which provides guidance on policy directions to foster appropriate business environments for e business and ICT uptake, and target programmes to overcome market failures to the extent that they are needed in particular areas.
