In order to promote the application of remote sensing technology, TRSC offers annual training courses on the principles of remote sensing, digital analysis and geographic information systems for natural resources management to domestic users.

Other applications include flood disaster monitoring and assessment and the application of remote sensing and GIS in matters of national security.

The first cooperative activity was the Workshop on Application of Remote Sensing and GIS for Natural Resources Management, held at Vientiane.

74. In the context of the Symposium, most participants were interested in discussing application projects, namely for telecommunications and remote sensing.

Currently two types of application oriented satellites were being developed SensTech microsatellite for high resolution remote sensing and ComTech for communications.

These grants aim to promote remote sensing technology within the country, particularly in its application to natural resource management and environmental monitoring.

TRSC continuously cooperates with international agencies to conduct research activities on the application of remote sensing in natural resources management and environmental monitoring.

A report concerning processing and analysis of remote sensing data as well as the application of those data to agriculture has been issued.

Participants from Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria and Zimbabwe also made presentations on remote sensing data application projects carried out by their national institutions and agencies.

The establishment of three Regional Remote Sensing Promotion Centers at Chiangmai University, Khon Kaen University and Prince of Songkhla University will enhance and support the capability in the application of satellite remote sensing for the local users within the region.
