Following this, the Committee established a working group to deal with issues relating to fundamental standards of humanity.

The Committee understands that steps are under way in CCAQ (FB) to initiate a review of the standards.

The Committee discovered that while systems of government vary widely, the standards for strong internal controls are generally the same.

They also take fully into account the United Nations System Accounting Standards as adopted by the Administrative Committee on Coordination.

The Japanese Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences committee on design standards for space debris prevention published its final report on standards and design criteria for the Japanese National Space Development Agency (NASDA) in March 1996.

For example, the Human Rights Committee draws on existing standards and norms when reviewing country reports, as well as individual complaints.

It participates in ISO TC104 (the technical committee on freight containers) on matters concerning international standards on container dimensions and ratings.

These EMS standards have already been adopted as international standards.

The High Level Committee on Management has approved a project for the development of such accounting standards within the United Nations system.

The East Asia and the Pacific steering committee for the regional consultation has prepared draft minimum standards for child participation in consultations.

In this regard, the Committee encourages the State party to ratify ILO Convention No. 102 (1952) concerning Minimum Standards of Social Security.

23. Belarus was interested in expanding contacts with the Scientific Committee, particularly in the preparation of new international radiation protection safety standards.

It has also been proposed that the TBT Committee should undertake a study of the potential trade effects of certain international standards.

The Committee on Internal Control Standards was formed to strengthen financial management and to establish more focused accountability in the public sector.

The conclusions of the Committee on the question of the applicability of accounting standards are summarized in paragraphs 17 and 18 above.
