The General Assembly approved the allocation of the items proposed in paragraph 71 for the First Committee, the Special Political and Decolonization Committee (Fourth Committee), the Second Committee, the Third Committee, the Fifth Committee and the Sixth Committee.

The seven intergovernmental committees are (a) the Statistical Committee (b) the Committee on Social Development (c) the Committee on Energy (d) the Committee on Water Resources (e) the Committee on Transport (f) the Technical Committee on Liberalization of Foreign Trade and Economic Globalization in the countries of the ESCWA region and (g) the Committee on Women.

The Parliamentary Inquiry Committee which was a temporary committee appointed for a limited amount of time, has recently become a permanent subcommittee of the government Ombudsman Committee of the Knesset.

The information obtained and collated by the Committee shall be made available by its Chairman, through the Secretary General to the members of the Commission at the time of notifying the members of the Commission of the date of the first meeting of the Commission.

The second panel comprised the executive secretaries of the regional commissions the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Economic Commission for Europe (ECE).

It was vital that the Commission received the necessary input from Member States and that the Committee should take advantage of the presence of the Commission's rapporteurs.

The Committee believes that this will ease communication between Member States and the Committee.

It also requested the Special Rapporteur to report to the General Assembly and the Commission.

A casual vacancy may occur through death, the inability of a Committee member to perform her or his function as a member of the Committee or the resignation of a member of the Committee.

In paragraph 334 of its report, the Board recommended that the International Civil Service Commission expedite the filling of vacant posts.
