It was important to utilize ICT to close the education gap that separated the world's most prosperous communities from their poorer cousins.

The paradox of asymmetrical globalization, however, is that ICT has also widened the gap between the poor and the rich.

Such a situation contributes to broaden the gap between the haves and the have nots of business information.

The first was the problem of the information technology gap between developed and developing countries.

The disparity in information and communications technology (ICT) between the rich and poor must be addressed urgently, since ICT was a powerful tool for development.

ICT policies of the least developed countries should also address the gender gaps in the digital divide and ensure equal access by women and men to ICT.

However, a substantial gap still exists between the demand for information and the ability of most countries in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region to routinely provide it.

It was important to adopt policies and measures that would help to narrow the widening gap between developed and developing countries, especially the digital divide, and to reduce external debt in order to lighten the burden on poor countries.
