Wages in the public and private sector

An increasing number of women were involved in politics and governance, and in decision making in public and private sector ventures.

However, the percentage of women occupying senior positions in both public and political sectors is rather small.

Fiji itself had developed a Public Private Partnership Programme for the delivery of public infrastructure and public services by the private sector that would otherwise have been provided through traditional public sector procurement.

All are built on a business model approach to management rather than on one that is indigenous to the public sector. However, they can be adapted so as to incorporate criteria specifically derived from public sector characteristics.

140. The wages and salaries of the public service employees are fixed in autonomous wage negotiations between the public employers of the federal, State and local governments on the one hand and the trade unions of the public service on the other.
