In the first part of 1997, in the framework of a sub working group on non governmental organizations of the high level working group of the General Assembly on the strengthening of the United Nations, the president of the Non Governmental Organizations Committee on Disarmament informally presented ideas on increasing access to the Main Committees, including the First Committee, and increasing participation in the work of the Disarmament Commission and in the Conference on Disarmament.

47. As its thirtieth session, the Board met with representatives of the Special NGO Committee on Disarmament (Geneva) to discuss their concerns.

In 1996 and 1997, decisions were taken whereby in extenso records would no longer be prepared for the internal meetings of the Court, as well as those of the Administrative and Budgetary Committee and of the Rules Committee.

In paragraph 49 of document A 53 335, the Administration suggested that the recommendation of the Board be drawn to the attention of the Governing Council of the Commission.

7. At its forty seventh session, the General Assembly, on the recommendation of the Special Political Committee, decided to increase the membership of the Committee on Information from 79 to 81 members, and appointed the Republic of Korea and Senegal as members of the Committee.
