(l) The trust fund statements reflect the clean surplus theory by processing adjustments through the current income and expenditure accounts.

The eurozone is now running even larger ones, with swings in southern Europe augmenting Germany s longstanding surpluses. Indeed, countries from Singapore to Russia are running large surpluses.

The net reserve as at 31 December 2004 amounts to 3,650,469 ( 3,133,155 at 31 December 2003) as a result of a net surplus of 517,313 for 2004.

The volume of sales produces a net income that is part of the agency s accumulated surpluses and contributes significantly to the development of its Technical Cooperation Fund.

Subsequently, under the terms of resolution 58 307 of 18 June 2004, the authorized retained surplus was further reduced by 63,312,709 representing the net accumulated surplus in the account of the Force from 1978 to 1993, leaving a balance of 19,565,240 as at 30 June 2005.
