In case surplus reserves are used for increasing capital, making up losses or distributing dividends, it is required to give the related resolution or basis.

In 1990, cooperatives were required to contribute 20 per cent of their surplus in excess of a half a million dollars to either the Central Cooperative Fund or the Singapore Labour Federation.

7. The current budget surplus for 1997 is estimated at 42 million, a 60 per cent increase from the 26.2 million surplus in 1996.
