With respect to the promotion of teamwork and partnerships, it is well known that teams bring together people with complementary skills and experiences that exceed the capacity of any one of the members.

UNMIL Force headquarters is currently coordinating the work of the Inter mission Working Group and continues to provide limited logistical assistance by sea to UNOCI.

This tool replaces the old hierarchy with self directed teams, where information is shared by all.

I therefore welcome the cooperation agreement established in July between UNMIS and the African Union Mission in the Sudan (AMIS), under which AMIS has agreed to provide assistance to human rights observers through the provision of transportation and security escorts to, and within, vulnerable areas.
