Committee of National Coordinators

The United Nations resident coordinator and the Country Management Team are supported by a coordination secretariat responsible for facilitating the work of the resident coordinator system and assisting the Country Management Team.

To date, the ICC has accredited 50 NIs to form what is known as the Group of NIs of the ICC.

TRSC was established in 1971, and its activities are directed by the National Remote Sensing Coordinating Committee, whose members are representatives of relevant agencies.

The need for the harmonization of national legislation to that effect was underlined by some members.

In most countries the posts of Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator have been assumed by the same individual, thereby facilitating coordination.

Any NI seeking membership of the ICC Group of NIs is to apply to the Chairperson of the ICC, providing specific information as prescribed by the ICC rules of procedure.

Periodic consultations of the entire resident coordinator system with national partners, where such consultations do not yet exist, would be helpful in ensuring that the resident coordinator system becomes even more responsive to national priorities.

Parties also indicated the need to improve the capabilities of national climate change coordinators and national institutions to manage and coordinate climate change programmes.

Resident Coordinators report regularly to the Emergency Relief Coordinator and the representative of the Secretary General on country specific situations related to internally displaced persons.

Members include the AIVD, national police service, Public Prosecution Service, FIOD ECD, Customs, Royal Military Police, and national security coordinator.

Member States were encouraged by the Secretary General in a note verbale to establish multi stakeholder national committees or national focal points to plan, coordinate and implement national observance of the International Year.

24. Training requirements of the resident coordinator system team are being evaluated by UNDG, in cooperation with CCPOQ, including the country level coordination workshops under the CCPOQ aegis and the United Nations Staff College.

The overall coordination in country falls under the responsibility of the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Moscow, who is also the UNHCR Representative and DHA Coordinator.

The NCC CTTC has been designated as the national focal point for coordination between concerned international and domestic agencies.

5. Invites Member States to consider establishing national coordinating committees or focal points with responsibility for promoting the activities related to the preparations for and observance of the Year

CEB members note that the Executive Committee agencies are forging an agreement on common responsibilities and authorities for the resident coordinator that will be accompanied by agreements on procedures for a common assessment of the performance of resident coordinators by all members of the United Nations country teams.

The implementation of the Sub programme will be coordinated by the Office of the Special Coordinator for Least Developed, Landlocked and Island Developing Countries.
