The Ministry of Health is the national implementing agency.

The country's health agencies and the DIF also cooperate.

The State is required to direct and organize health programmes, services and actions and to encourage people to participate in protecting health.

The National Sanitary Inspectorate, which is an agency of the WM, monitors the observance of hygienic and anti epidemic requirements, and it has the right to conduct such inspections anywhere in Latvia.

The rapid response to SARS also showed that the spread of infectious disease can be contained when effective global institutions, such as the World Health Organization (WHO), work in close partnership with functioning national health agencies and expert technical institutions.

Implementing agency provincial Ministries of Health

National teams will comprise members from national research institutions and Ministries of Finance, Social Affairs, Education and Public Health.

These surveys are carried out by the National Hygiene, Medical Ecology and Nutrition Centre and the National Health Prophylactics Centre with the participation of experts of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Industries and the Ministry of Agriculture.

In the absence of the national hygiene standards for such imports, the importer must provide the hygiene evaluation data prepared by the health authorities or organization of the exporting country (region) to the frontier agencies for hygiene supervision and inspection of imported food for examination and inspection and such data shall also be reported to the administrative department of public health under the State Council for approval.

Cooperation with WHO and other United Nations agencies

Three agencies (the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and IOC) have already adopted resolutions in support of the GPA.

Existing and potential partners include local and national governments, United Nations agencies, bilateral donor agencies, specialist WASH organizations, NGOs, funding foundations, research institutes and the private sector.

Representatives of the following specialized agencies and other organizations in the United Nations system attended the session World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

To achieve these goals, the Ministry of Health has set up a national body with its own expert working bodies and subgroups, composed of representatives from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Labor and Social Policy that supports the principle of multi sectoral cooperation for solving the problems of the young.

Also, cooperation with such United Nations agencies as the International Labour Organization, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the World Health Organization, and others on issues of health, food, crises and labour, is essential.

Currently there is no national information centre for water and sanitation, which is due in part to the institutional weakness of the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare (MSPAS), the lead agency.

Welcoming the efforts of the World Health Organization, in cooperation with Member States, the United Nations system, the Bretton Woods institutions, the private sector and civil society, in enhancing capacity building in global public health and in promoting public health at the country level,

The question of an institutional home for sanitation is an international as well as national issue, as sanitation does not have a strong champion within the international institutional architecture.

A WHO collaborating centre is a national institution designated by the WHO Director General to form part of an international collaborative network carrying out activities in support of the mandate of WHO for international health work and its programme priorities.

In Republika Srpska, the competent institution is the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

10.4 International organizations, including United Nations specialized agencies, trade and financial institutions, and the States members of such bodies should ensure that their policies and actions respect the right to water and sanitation.

Some of them operate through health agencies of the Institution of Social Security (Ι.Κ.Α. ) while many Health Centres provide consultation on family planning.

493. Free health services are delivered mainly by public health care institutions (independent of social insurance institutions).

The agencies for food hygiene supervision set up by the administrative departments of railways and communications shall exercise their functions and duties for food hygiene supervision jointly prescribed by the administrative departments of public health under the State Council and other relevant departments under the State Council.

A number of United Nations agencies are engaged in assisting small island developing States ministries of health control HIV AIDS and other communicable diseases.

In the context of the current reform of the health sector the Agency was also working with the Government to develop a national strategy for maternity care.

There are other governmental bodies, such as the DIF and other agencies of the National Health System, which provide support to the population without having to form part of any specific social security system.

WHO expects other partners, particularly United Nations agencies, to support the initiative.
