The legal instruments for cultural diversity have just been enriched today by UNESCO's adoption, by an overwhelming majority, of the Convention on Cultural Diversity, which removes culture from the rules of international trade.

Whilst progress in a country apos s diversification is conventionally measured at the aggregate macroeconomic level, it is firms and enterprises that are the actual agents implementing and determining the speed and direction of diversification.

In the years to come DIVERSITAS, another international global change research programme, dealing with biodiversity, will provide data and enhanced knowledge on the links between climate change and biological diversity.

Moreover, the management of cultural diversity in a system of organizations as culturally diverse as that of the United Nations might appear to some as superfluous.

The global playing field is far from level. The poorer and less diversified the country, the riskier it is for a local producer to diversify, and the riskier it is for a foreign buyer to support these diversification efforts.
