The tenure of the Commission has been extended from time to time. It is presently up to 31 March 1997.

The deadline has been extended by two weeks, until Wednesday, 21 December 2005.

DURATION, EXTENSION AND TERMINATION

Extension of the mandate of the Force.

The mandate of UNRWA has been renewed repeatedly, most recently by the General Assembly in its resolution 59 117 of 10 December 2004, when it was extended to June 2008.

My delegation therefore proposes renewing the mandate of the impartial forces for one month, until 4 May.

Therefore, I recommend that the mandate of UNOMIG be extended for a new period of six months, until 31 July 2005.
